HerstoryMrs. Johnson took a bachelor's degree in Political Economy at UC Berkeley, which she says, "kicked her butt." She enjoyed wearing different hats at a variety of organizations before finding the courage to quit and go back to school to earn her teaching credential. Mrs. J brings a little bit of everything into her new role. She is influenced by Agile and scrum methodologies, the Light and Space art movement, and mindfulness practices. Her two favorite jobs were coding reports for a healthcare start-up and chilling with Teen Art Council members at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Philosophy and ValuesEducation is changing so much. Traditional hierarchies are dramatically crumbling, new mediums are rushing in, and avenues to knowledge are diverse and abundant. As teachers and learners, it's important to discern what brings us most to life -- to bravely explore, make tiny failures, talk about it, and keep looking further. My teaching philosophy prioritizes learner-centered activities and assignments that are challenging on multiple levels. I expect students to participate and direct aspects of their learning and will endlessly respect students and their boundless potential.
